Ana Arrazola battles Nancy Franco for vacant IBF Female Inter Continental Mini Flyweight Championship

Mexican amazons, Ana Arrazola of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas and Nancy Franco of Guadalajara, draw battle lines on Friday night, May 17, 2013 at the Arena Amado Lopez Mateos here in Tlalnepantla, north of Mexico City, as they vie for the vacant IBF Female Inter Continental Mini Flyweight Championship.

Known as La Bronca, the 31 year old Ana Arrazola, 17-8-2, 13KOs, who fights out of Tlalnepantla, Mexico, also seeks revenge against Nancy "Chatita" Franco, who had beaten her by split decision in March 2010. Most importantly, La Bronca hopes to arrest a string of failed title attempts in the last 4 years, by capturing this Regional belt tomorrow night, en route to getting another stab at the world championship. The popular Yessica Yolanda Bopp from Buenos Aires, Argentina, twice repulsed her by unanimous decision, first in November 2009 and, again in August 2010, each time, for both the WBO and WBA Female Light Flyweight Titles. In March 2011, she again fell short of bagging the WIBF Womens International Boxing Federation Flyweight Crown, losing by unanimous decision to Armenian born, Susi Kentikian in Hamburg, Germany. Her frustration continued when in July of the same year, her compatriot, Katia Gutierrez outlasted her in 10 heats to retain her IBF Mini Flyweight crown by unanimous decision. And, finally, last August 25, 2012, she lost to Korean Ji Hyun Park by unanimous decision for the IFBA International Female Boxers Association Minimumweight Title in Seoul, South Korea.

Ana Arrazola is definitely hungry for a win, and intends to make 2013, her break out year. On the hand, Nancy Yesenia Franco, 9-5-2, 4KOs, who is coming off a unanimous decision win in her latest outing over Lorena Arias, has her sights too, on a possible World Championship opportunity, if she repeats with an emphatic victory over Ana Arrazola. Nancy "Chatita" Franco, 24 years old, has had her share of Championship heartaches, losing to Ibeth Zamora Silva in August 2011 for the WBC Youth Female Minimumweight Title by a 6th round TKO, and again, in November 2012, bowing down to Anahi Torres on a unanimous decision for the same WBC Youth Female Minimumweight diadem. With two determined fighters heading towards career crossroads paths, expect this to be a fierce struggle.

This IBF Female Inter continental Mini flyweight Championship is a presentation of Canelo Promotions and is sanctioned by the International Boxing Federation, with Rob Scott of New Jersey supervising the event.
