Shane's style suits Pacman

Who'll show up for the fight?

A 32 year old fighting Saranggani congressman or a 40 year old former three-division champ.

Who can put up solid rounds and win decisively when Manny Paquiao goes up against Shane Mosley in an invidious clash for the WBO welterweight title (beamed live by SHOWTIME-CBS) at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada?

Sometime (and it could be early in the fight), Manny Pacquiao will attack with dizzying pace. That's when he gets comfortable after a thorough-read on Sugar and starts serving his vaunted mix.

Mosley or anybody getting in the way in that war zone must seek cover elsewhere or bear the brunt of shock and stress.

Keep in mind that Manny has always been an in-demand boxer/slugger who has a huge cache of fans, hardcore believers who are raucously loud in their support each time he fights noteworthy opponents lined up for him.

So far, in the rigid phase of their training, both warriors have been compliant to their trainer's agenda -- not deviating or relaxing to the rigors of their exacting regimen.

Will Shane Mosley go after the Pinoy hero with same passion and ferocity as was evident in his younger days?

Just to remind Shane in case he needs to retrace Pacquiao's distinguished past. The Filipino non-pareil never makes the same mistake twice.

Remember his loss against Eric Morales?

He's been unbeaten since.

Mosley's headache now is his age to belabor the point.

How to hit a fast moving Manny is one poser he's been focused on -- interchanging smaller and friskier sparmates with bigger ones. Will this work? The Pacman is damn too quick I say but who knows.

Now to re-visit the aging process which has long been the bane of comeback kids,

Manny's right jab, left straight and right hook -- vital elements in his arsenal deemed cruel by those who were iced by it will do Pomona's aging star in.

There'll be no patty cake punches served in the May 7th outing. Only contrived haymakers are in the menu.

Mosley's style suits Manny. And Mosley likes Pacquiao's trade logo -- convulsive aggression.

In a punchfest featuring the younger Manny versus the older Sugar Shane, the defending champ will reaffirm his toughness and Mosley is on notice to do likewise.

By the way, is the Pomona veteran feigning ignorance on the Pacman's speed for something we are clueless about?
He says he plumb "don't know how to deal with it yet."

It would be a surprise then for Mosley to learn that the Pacman has been assaulting with ease the steepy Griffith Park and that should be his prime concern since nothing has been heard of the Sugarman doing well in his routines at Big Bear.

Does Shane's running grounds suggests sharpness of rise or slope as to make his ascent really difficult? Assuming he does mountain climbing for this match?

Manny's posse is composed of Shawn Porter, Rashad Holloway, Michael Medina and bringing up the front end of the spirited bunch is Julian Santos Chua, RP's prospect in the Baku tryouts who's seeking a slot in the PHL contingent to the London 2012 Games.

Who's he again? That's for a whole piece to devote on when next we meet.
