Happy Holidays, Everyone!!! PhilBoxing.com Wed, 23 Dec 2009 Christmas is the most awaited season of the year. For kids, it means gifts, vacation and lots and lots of goodies on the dining table and underneath the Christmas tree. For grown-ups, it means Christmas bonus and shopping. For the ultra-religious individuals, it is the season when a special child was born in a manger in order to save all our sins and give us people the chance to have eternal life. Whatever are the reasons for celebration… for me Christmas is the happiest season of the year. It is also the time when I try to look back and give thanks to all the things that have happened to me… the good things and the not-so-good things. And what are the things I am most thankful for? I am thankful for my profession. Being a professional boxer is the most important event that has happened to me. It has molded my personality and it has been my stepping stone in achieving great things. I gained many friends, supporters and acquaintances and I believe some people like me because I have been a good role model worthy of emulation. Having a family is also something to be thankful for. Having a wife who honor, love and respect me and kids who adore me is a very huge plus. I am also thankful for the presence of my mother and my siblings and to my in-laws who have always been supportive of all the decisions I made regarding my career or with whatever plans I have. It is always a good feeling to be surrounded by people who love you and will always be happy for your good fortune and cry with you when you are down. This year, Philippines was not spared from calamities. The typhoon Ondoy has gave us a huge reality check and humbled all of us. But it also brought out the best in all of us. Filipinos all over the world were united and gave whatever they can afford to help the kababayans who are most affected by the calamity. I am most thankful that me and my family were fine after the storm and that the Philippines, specifically, Luzon residents, are slowly rebuilding lives and picking up the pieces again after Ondoy’s wrath. I am also most thankful for Manny Pacquiao’s huge win over Cotto. His win created a history as winning seven titles in seven different weight divisions. His win has given pride and honor not only to the Filipino boxing community but also to all Pinoys who believe that the Philippines is home of world class boxers. Lastly, I am most thankful to all my friends, supporters and sponsors of all my boxing promotions. I am new in the promotion business but it is my fervent wish that through this business I can help aspiring boxers dream to be lined up with world-famous boxers for personal honor and for Philippines’ pride and glory. It's Christmas time once again... the best time to count our blessings and the best time to think about the true meaning of Christmas which is sharing and giving. It is also the best time to look forward to the promise of a new year. My fervent wish to all people during this yuletide season is peace, love and harmony for a better Philippines, for a better world, for a better future. Enjoy the holidays, everyone!
