MY PREDICTION: PACQUIAO WILL KO MARGARITO BEFORE ROUND 8

Thu, 02 Sep 2010

IT?S FINAL. Manny Pacquiao will face Antonio Margarito on November 13, 2010 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas. At stake will be the WBC Junior Middleweight Championship Belt vacated by Sergio Martinez. The bought will be fought at a 150 lbs catch weight. Despite negative reactions from boxing writers, media and boxing fans, Bob Arum proved his might and finalize a gargantuan fight between the Pound for Pound King and the Tijuana Tornado who are both under his Top Rank Promotions.

This will be Pacquiao?s quest for an Eighth Division World Title while it will be Margarito?s chance for redemption following his more than one year suspension for illegal hand wraps during his fight versus Shane Mosley last year. Either way, it will be a fight between two warriors for their respective boxing legacies.

A lot of criticisms have been thrown against this match-up though. People have been bitter about Margarito being rewarded with such a big break instead of punishment for his act of cheating. Many have seen it as a mismatch knowing Margarito?s mile-wide physical advantages in terms of height, reach and overall size. Boxing experts believe Pacquiao?s moving up to a higher weight of 151 lbs for an eighth world title is too much for Pacman and would be an unwise move. Well, this writer is tired of paying too much attention to what others say. Same things have been said before Pacquiao?s fights against Diaz, De la Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, and Clottey. People doubted, but Pacquiao never failed in converting them into Believers. So nevermind what they say. Pacquiao versus Margarito will be a fight between two brave warriors who never know the word retreat in their vocabularies. It will be war. But if you ask me what my ?prophetic? instinct tells me, it says the same thing: Pacquiao will win by KO before round eight and here is why.

1.While Margarito is bigger and taller, this will not be enough to negate the unmatchable speed of Pacquiao.
2.Pacquiao is in his prime while Margarito?s momentum is on its way down. Just look at Margarito?s recent fight with Garcia.
3.Margarito?s punching power will not be useful against an unhittable opponent in Pacquiao.
4.Pacquiao?s power once landed on Margarito will tear the Mexican apart.
5.In a battle of Coaches, Robert Garcia is way below the league and caliber of Freddie Roach. Pacquiao?s corner is one of his greatest weapons. No corner has ever beaten the Pac-Roach-Ariza triumvirate.

We all have opinions on every big fight much more when it involves the fighting pride of our country in Pacquiao. This is how I see it. And mind you fellow boxing fans, my crystal ball has been accurate so far.
