GAB-ZAMBOANGA OPENS THIS FRIDAY

PhilBoxing.com
Tue, 08 Aug 2006

It's virtually striking while the iron is hot! The Games and Amusements Board is knowing no limits for its expansion programs by opening up sub-regional offices in strategic areas where professional sporting communities be catered and served. No let-up as to the implementation of its regulatory and supervisory powers for the good conduct of all professional sports in the Philippines. People empowerment cum involvement is but an effective tool towards achieving one goal of bringing the country’s professional athletes into “world class” level.

This Friday August 11, 2006 is another triumph for both the GAB and the locality of Zamboanga City, the political territory of the Honorable Congressman Enrico Basilio Fabian, co-author of this concerted efforts in order to realize the establishment of this agency’s sub-regional office in his district. But primarily, it is intended to attend and bring about expected services to the constituencies not only in the provinces of Zamboanga, it will envelop the areas of Sulu and Tawi-tawi.Its not magical to create extension offices by the GAB all alone. The support extended by the LGU’s concerned and some sports-loving solons of the country is luck and strength behind this unprecedented endeavor. And since this new take-off in Zamboanga aims at effecting the revival if not the complete evolution of sports activities from the very grass roots down the line, we do really hope that the focus of building-up more and more national champions will become a common occurence.

“Nothing political, it is done for the greater interest of the younger generations”, declared Congressman Fabian during our August 01, 2006 meeting here in the GAB office for finality re: opening of Zamboanga GAB extension office. I strongly believed in the commitment of Cong. Fabian. He’s impressive track record in public service dating back during his years as City Councilor, Vice-mayor of Zamboanga City is notable and the integrity of this man is beyond question. Imagine he would go to the GAB office, though it would have been in the opposite, just to ensure that things are in order before the scheduled inauguration. A public servant by good example and a hard worker like him is really well appreciated! May your tribe increase Congressman! His longtime prot?g?, Rolly San Juan will take the lead to initially handle the task in GAB Zamboanga extension office.

The opening of GAB Zamboanga is the second this year under the expansion programs in the Buhain administration. The Iloilo extension office is just operational through the joint efforts made by Governor Neil Tupas and Board Member Angelo Briones and the GAB national officials. Our next target before the yearends is in the beautiful City of Baguio. We see a developed and well-trained quality sportsmen and women from the city. Especially in women professional boxing, the group of Councilor Raffy Panagan has been very active for the development of the women fighters. The coverage of the whole northern and central down to the southern Luzon is badly in need of the GAB services and effective accessibility. We are in consensus that by way of this applied tactical networking of technical support and the availability the agency’s service direct to its sporting patrons, there is no justifiable reason that in a year or two in simple logic, GAB’s commitment for competent regulation and supervision will not be put into its proper perspective.

We owe this to the future aspiring generations of Filipino athletes in the professional world. Congratulations to the people of Zamboanga City and to their dynamic officials for opening this door to the GAB to reach out for the country’s sports development and to where this meritorious chapter in their history must be addressed.

VIVA ZAMBOANGA !
