JETHER OLIVA: Gensan’s New Warrior PhilBoxing.com Thu, 03 Sep 2009  GENERAL SANTOS -- It's no wonder they call it the City of the Generals… the city is generally beautiful, peaceful and progressive… General Santos City. I consider it my second home. It is the birthplace of my wife Goody and every time I come to visit, I would not want to leave. The people are friendly, warm and very accommodating. Life with the Generals is laid back, easy and stress-free. We are in the thick of preparation for the first joint promotion between Gerry Pens Promotions and JM Boxing Gym of JC Boy Mananquil dubbed as “Battle of the Undefeated” with Jether Oliva of General Santos City vs Paithong Muangsima of Thailand as the main event which will be held on September 3, 2009 at Polomolok Gym, Polomolok South Cotabato. The fight is made possible through the invitation and sponsorship of Mayor Isidro Lumayag of Polomolok. The fight is scheduled to start at 6pm. Ang “Battle of the Undefeated” ay isang non-title na laban ng dalawang manlalarong sina Jether Oliva ng Pilipinas na may 14-0 win-loss card at Paithong Muangsima ng Thailand na may 9-0 win-loss card. Masasaksihan din sa nasabing labanan ang mga undercards na may impresibo at may potensyal na tanghaling world champions balang araw. Ang mga manonood ay nahaharap sa magandang laban dahil inaasahan na hindi magpapatalo ang dalawang boksingero sapagkat ayaw ng mga ito na masira ang kanilang malinis na fight record. Ang 14-0 card ni Oliva ay kanyang itinataya sa labang ito laban kay Paithong na wala ring talo. “Expect a good match up because my boy is in top-shape and he promised to knock out Oliva,” ayon sa trainer ng Thai boxer na si Win Panyaparichot. Inaasahang manonood ng laban ang mga boxing enthusiasts sa rehiyon ng Sarangani-General Santos-South Cotabato at inaabangan din ang pagdalo ni Kosuke Washio, ang aking kaibigang Japanese Businessman na isa ring tumatangkilik sa larong boxing, si Vice-Governor Manny Pi?ol, Sidney Hall at Carlos Costa. On different note, I would like to extend my condolences to my long time friend and mentor, Freddie Roach for the passing of his brother. It’s sad to see a friend grieving but rest assured your friends are always here to cheer you up during your saddest times. It pains me to read the emerging news in the Pacman camp regarding the supposed rift between Freddie Roach and Manny’s agent Michael Koncz. News like this cannot help Manny’s campaign against Cotto and with his fight coming soon, it's better that his men’s energies be focused on getting an impressive win against the foreign opponent. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful that everything will turn out just fine and all misunderstandings threshed out and settled. After all, we only have one goal.. to give Philippines and our Filipino boxers victory inside the ring.. Boxing friends.. watch out for more boxing news, comments and tidbits.
