Today we are going to speak about the best foods for building muscle and maintaining energy.
One thing I do want to point out before we get started is metabolism has the ability to change.
You do not ever want to get fixated on one type of food or the same caloric intake everyday.
Your body has an ability to get used to what is being put into it and then, in my opinion, get?s lazy or goes back to it?s old ways. We need to continue to shock our bodies and keep it guessing.
It is the same thing with supplements in my opinion. We do not focus on one thing all the time. I have found a few different vitamin companies I like and some vitamins that I feel work the best. Next week I will release to you my favorite vitamins and brand of vitamins I have chosen over the years.
Supplements are supplements; they are just that. They are to supplement something you might be lacking. They are not something you rely on or build upon for health and or muscle.
Food is your focus, proper training is your focus, resting is your focus, and then supplements come into play. They are not your priority in my opinion. They are your last important ingredient to the equation. Now, that being said, I want you to think of this; ?If you are doing everything else correctly, just think how much more potent your vitamins and supplements will be inside you body, and how much better your body will respond.?
Since there has been a lot of questions on the supplement brand we use, and the exact supplements we use, I want to spend a lot of time discussing this subject and look forward to revealing to you the vitamins we use on a daily basis, especially during the final 5 weeks of training.
I have used many supplement companies in the past.
Believe me when I say, I have done my due diligence to find the best product made by the best companies.
I believe after all of these years I can honestly say I know the best supplements and who the best companies are.
I have repped a couple companies in the past and they are good, but the companies I have chosen to tell you about (in my personal blog just for you guys next week) are the best.
Before I talk supplements, I want to see comments that people understand why diet, rest, and proper training are the most important aspects to becoming healthier. Please ask me questions. Others can learn from questions too. Remember the only stupid question is the questioned that was never asked. (I am not giving Dr.?s advise here. There are some supplements that I am sure are crucial to some people. These subjects and comments are open to your speculation and review. They are not to take place of something a Dr. has told you otherwise.)
That being said, Let?s get into food.
Here are my favorite foods to eat. I feel these foods have the best nutritional value.
#1) Donuts- Oh sorry, that is my favorite food, just does not have good nutritional value. Let?s try this again
PROTEIN: COTTAGE CHEESE, EGGS (remember athletes, the yolk is not your enemy- we will get into that later), FISH, RED MEAT (do not forget we are carnivores by nature, we can not get the nutritional value anywhere else that we can get from red meat), CHICKEN BREAST, those are my favorites. I like lean turkey to snack on.
CARBOHYDRATES: YAMS, OATMEAL, BROWN OR WHITE RICE, WHITE POTATOES, RED POTATOES, PASTA (if you have the metabolism to break it down. have it before your workout),
FATS: NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER (do not pour out that oil on top. Stir it in.), ALMONDS, AVACADO (with a lean steak your body will be loving you.)
VEGGIES: ANYTHING GREEN!!! You can eat all you like and then keep eating them.. eat eat eat veggies!!
FRUITS: PEARS, GRAPEFRUIT, AND APPLES (I have scoured the Earth and these are the only fruits I have found that will not spike your insulin levels- when you spike your insulin that is your bodies signal to store fat. We try to avoid this at all times. We will expand on the importance of this a lot in later blogs.)
There you have it. I left a lot open tonight, because I would like a lot of questions to see where everyone is at!
Talk to you soon,
Alex
