MANNY PACQUIAO?S CONTRACT WITH TOP RANK ALL ABOUT MONEY

PhilBoxing.com

They seem to have signed the contract blindfolded.

Michael Koncz?s logic sounds rational, but only to them who have no qualms in gagging the Super Fight from becoming a reality and have stakes to benefit financially from the forbidden fruit offered by the tempter in the Garden to prolong Pacman?s capitulation to Bob Arum till the end of time.

?I don?t believe Floyd not fighting us has to do with Bob. Why did Floyd wait until he exhausted all other excuses before saying he wouldn?t fight Manny if Bob was involved? First he brought up the drug testing. Then he wanted Manny to sign with him. Then he wanted to pay Manny a flat fee of $40 million for the fight instead of sharing a percentage. And now he can?t fight Manny because Bob would be involved?? (Koncz).

Oh well, Michael?s ?eloquence? is like telling the whole world, ?Damn with the fans and Ali along with several other legends and forget about the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.? That couldn?t be.
Apparently, Koncz and Pacquiao disregarded the people to whom they owe the millions of dollars they?ve already earned in boxing. Pacquiao keeps saying he fights to entertain the fans. This isn?t true anymore. On the strength or weakness of their latest act, Pacquiao and Konzc practically meant to ignore the fans and to render useless what the ?People Power? in boxing has so far achieved.

Manny Pacquiao?s ?wise? adviser failed to realize or see that the situation is much different now amid the persistent clamor for the Mega Bout between Pac and Floyd. The people are currently, collectively and resolutely airing their voice through ?People Power? to put some sense to greed, bullying, childishness, guile and foolishness in boxing in order to solve the problems one at a time.

Koncz: ?We are happy. We reviewed both proposals and felt in an overall picture that Top Rank proposal was the best (sic) choice.? Best indeed, but just in the overall picture of George Washington on dollar bills.

For Arum, it?s the same tune but in falsetto: ?..It (the contract) means that we are going to be able to make multi-fight deals with venues like the Venetian, so I think it?s going to enhance everybody?s ability to maximize the amount of money that could be brought in.. That could mean a very huge revenue source that could even surpass pay- per-view revenue in the United States.?

Oh, Arum was talking as if Pacquiao?s recent fight with Brandon Rios in Macau, China didn?t prove to be a pay-per-view disaster. Venue?s early announcement for a Top Rank major event outside of the U.S. soil is an ?astute? tactic typical of Arum which aims to invite craving from the American audience once Arum later announce the real venue to be either Las Vegas or New York.
What all these signify is that Koncz, Manny, Arum and company continue to talk money, money and money along with Floyd ?Money? Mayweather and cohorts. Look at the headline I just read awhile ago: ?Pacquiao advisor: Canelo affordable, Marquez overpriced.?

Therefore, need it be said that we, the people, should remain steadfast, refusing to be psyched and hyped again by wild businessmen in the sport? That we persevere to talk to them in their money language by way of boycott? Need it also be said that this time the BOYCOTT ought to be BIGGER, DEFIANT and WIDESPREAD?

Pacquiao?s extension of contract with Top Rank until 2016 is indeed just all about money and mammon. It is nothing about the Jews and Gentiles; nothing about the fans and sport; nothing about clamors and people preference, the public and what?s ideal in general; nothing about competition and compelling fights, thrill and excitement; nothing about legacy and nobility, what?s right and honorable; nothing about root and historical meaning of boxing; nothing about redemption and salvation.

Everything about the contract is them and the revenues they can earn from their shows. The ?Koncz-Pacquiao-Arum? contract appears to be a covenant, if not a conspiracy, among ?na?ve? personalities in boxing. But notice that Pacquiao is bugged in between two ?wiser? men whose burning concern is their own pockets. Pity the sparrows in dungeons.

The Bible-bearing Filipino champion would do well to heed the same Bible he preaches and replace Canadian Koncz as his adviser: ?Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it? Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding: I have strength? My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.? - Proverbs 8:10-11, 14, 19
The avaricious embrace money when they embrace each other. And money is precisely what Koncz alluded to when he said, ?Bob has been good to Manny.?

Money can be of great use, but never let it use you or it will wreak untold havoc. Why love money and use people when we should be using money and loving people? It?s a marvel and paradox that cold-bloodedness flood modern civilization just as the inhuman are always big to kill or wage war for money.

Money or oil isn?t everything.

Brats and crocs worship the Golden Calf. They disdain wisdom and so they?ve been defying us, the people. But why don?t we altogether defy them and thwart everything connected to their plans from this time forth? BOYCOTT remains to be the option for the people, for fans and media to treat any upcoming fights of Pac and Floyd until we hear or read concrete positive news about the ?Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? taking place in September, October, November or December this year.

We keep our fingers crossed as we move on to the next level.
Beyond money and logic, love and reason must prevail.
Arise.

P.S. It was a different subject I purposed to write this day, but I came up instead with the above article as my thoughts wondered, clicking the keyboard of my computer. Though in the next piece, I wish to delve on media?s crucial role in healing the sport; why it needs to purge its ranks to do itself and boxing a favor; and how media can be a powerful tool to make the Mega Bout happen soonest.
