SAN FRANCISCO -- All-Star Kevin Love scattered 42 points and 16 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Indiana Pacers, 104-91, Thursday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Leading by as many as 20 points in the unexpected rout, the Wolves' victory pushed them to a 26-28 won-lost record, 5 1/2 games out of the eighth and last playoffs berth in the Western Conference.
Corey Brewer and J.J. Barea were the only other Wolves with double figures in points but Minnesota made 40-of-83 field goals (48.2 percent), 6-of-20 threes (30 percent) and 18 of 31 free throws (58.1 percent).
Paul George led the Pacers with 35 points and 10 rebounds while George Hill and Lance Stephenson combined for 23, but big men Roy Hibbert and David West were held to just a combined eight points.
The Pacers dropped to 41-13, slicing their Eastern Conference lead to two over the two-time defending champions Miami Heat. (JSM)
