Waterfront, Marriott Hotels to Host Boxing Execs

CEBU CITY -- Two more hotels move in to sponsor hotel accommodations for the national and foreign visitors in the upcoming ?Moment of Truth? triple championship card on Feb 24.

Top Cebu boxing promoter Samson ?Sammy? Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions signed yesterday a memorandum of agreement between SGG and the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino (WCCHC) for Waterfront?s sponsorship of the hotel accommodation of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) executives flying in from the United States to witness Cebu City?s first hosting of a World championship fight at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

WBO president Paco Valcarcel, WBO supervisor Leon Panoncillo, GBP vice president Eric Gomez, and international matchmaker non-pareil Sampson Lewkowicz are expected to arrive in Cebu on Feb 22.

Waterfront Marketing Communications Manager-F&B Kaye Luym and Marketing Communications Manager-Rooms Renee Villasin co-signed the MOA as SGG Budget & Finance Manager Lorna Rosales, SGG Hotel Accommodations Coordinator Jeanevie Maingat, SGG Food Services Coordinator Diana Antang, and SGG Events Coordinator Alex Martinez.

Gello-ani also signed yesterday afternoon a memorandum of agreement together with Director of F & B Dottie Wurgler of Cebu City Marriott Hotel (CCMH) as the official sponsor for the Filipino boxers and their respective trainers. To stay at Marriott are main event pugilists Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista, Z ?The Dream? Gorres, and Jimrex ?The Executioner? Jaca; supporting prizefighters AJ Banal and Bert Batawang; and trainers Anthony Martin and WildCard Gym?s prime coach Freddie Roach.

The triple World championship match will showcase Cebu?s rising ring stars Z and Boom Boom to fight for WBO championship titles against reigning super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel of Mexico and prime contender super bantamweight Feider Viloria of Colombia.
