WBO strips Ramirez of Intl. Featherweight Title for not fighting in 120 days By Mike Angel Lopez PhilBoxing.com Wed, 04 Sep 2013 The gallant performance of Jose ?Negro? Ramirez capturing the WBO International Featherweight Championship came to an abrupt end when the WBO stripped him of his title for not obligating his condition to fight in 120 days after winning the title. In an email sent from the WBO Vice President the Honorable Leon Panoncillo, he explained no one from the camp of Team Ramirez asked for an extension or any fights were proposed. Ramirez had an obligation from April 20, 2013 after beating Rey ?Boom Boom ?Bautista by split decision in Davao city Philippines to defend his belt. Team Ramirez is scheduled to fight on the undercard of Marquez vs. Bradley this coming October with a fighter to be named later. This has come a little too late for the once promising fighter from Mexicali as his world ranking of #7 will take a dive. In a phone interview this morning with Ramirez, he said, ?I am very sad that I was stripped of my belt, but I will keep fighting. I have a new manger, maybe he didn?t know I had to defend it in 120 days.? Team Ramirez has been on the downside since winning the title and they never seemed to get back on track with so much internal disagreements. The door is opened now for many top Filipino fighters, Jun Doliguez, Lorenzo ?Thunderbolt? Villanueva of the famous boxing stable of Gov. Manny Pinol and maybe Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista can come out of retirement and fight for this prestigious title he once wore around his waist. Photo: Negro Ramirez is shown here receiving his WBO belt.
