This past Saturday night, the beautiful campus of the University of Southern Philippines Gymnasium in Davao City was the venue of the high explosive PINOY PRIDE XIX: MEXICAN INVASION. The main event of the evening was for the prestigious WBO INTERNATIONAL FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP featuring the reigning champion Philippines Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista vs. from Mexico Jose ?Negro? The main event ended in a split decision victory for the new WBO INTERNATIONAL FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPION Jose ?Negro? Ramirez with scores from the judges Salven Lagumbay and Danrex Tapdasan at 114-111 in favor of Ramirez and Edward Ligas had an eye popping score of 114-111 for Bautista.

After the fight, I interviewed Team Ramirez and got their insights of their big victory.

Lopez: Congratulations on your big win, who would you like to thank for this victory?

Ramirez: I would like to thank my family and most of all the man above.

Lopez: Were you ever hurt in the fight?

Ramirez: Yes, I was hurt in the fight, but I fought to the end.

Lopez: Does Bautista hit hard?

Ramirez: His jab hits hard.

Lopez: Any words for Bautista?

Ramirez: Yes, he is a real good fighter, with a lot of heart and it was a good fight.

Lopez: Would you give Bautista a rematch?

Ramirez: Yes I would.

Lopez: What can you say about the Philippines?

Ramirez: The fans were very nice to me. They treated me very nice. I love the Philippines.

Lopez: What are your plans for the next fight?

Ramirez: I will rest and see what fight we can get next.
