MEXICANS ARRIVE IN DAVAO FOR PINOY PRIDE 19: RAMIREZ WANTS A PONCE DE LEON LIKE KNOCKOUT WIN OVER BOOM-BOOM! By Mike Angel Lopez PhilBoxing.com Tue, 16 Apr 2013 Early Monday morning (Philippine time) the Mexicans comprised of Team Ramirez and Team Kantun arrived in the beautiful city of Davao at 5:00 AM and were being accommodated in the plush Park Inn. I had the opportunity to talk to Jose Ramirez (24-3-17KO) who will be headlining the PINOY PRIDE 19: MEXICAN INVASION as he goes into battle with the WBO International Featherweight Champion Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista (34-2-25KO). Lopez: How was the travel from Mexico to the Philippines? Ramirez: It was a very long trip; I really didn?t imagine that it would be like that. I saw many beautiful places so it took my mind off the long travel. Lopez: How is your Hotel, are you comfortable? Ramirez: Yes, we are staying in a very Beautiful Hotel. The only problem we have is we don?t speak English and it is hard to talk to the Filipinos. It is hard to order food and ask for something. We need a translator to help us. Lopez: How are the Filipino people treating you? Ramirez: They are very nice people. We are always greeted with smiles. They are always asking to take photos with them. The ladies are very beautiful. Lopez: How is the weather, have you adjusted? Ramirez: I am use to this kind of humidity, I am from Mazatlan and the climate is the same. It is not a problem. I actually like it. Lopez: Have you tried the Filipino foods? Ramirez: I tried a little bit, and my trainer has tasted it and he loves it. After the fight, I will try many Filipino dishes. Lopez: Is this your first time out of Mexico? Ramirez: I have traveled to many places out of Mexico when I was an amateur. This is my first time as a professional. Lopez: How prepared are you for this fight and are you wanting a KNOCKOUT? Ramirez: I have trained very hard for this fight. I dedicated a lot of hard work for this fight. I am ready to go 12 hard rounds and my conditioning is great. This is my breakout fight, so the whole world can see who I really am. I want to have a Daniel Ponce DeLeon ?KNOCKOUT? when he beat Bautista. This is my time to shine, and for bigger and better things to come in the future. Ramirez's trainer Francisco Martinez. Lopez: What is the name of your trainer? Ramirez: His name is Francisco ?El Flaco? Martinez. He is a very good trainer with a lot of experience. He has traveled a lot with Team Mexico in the Pan American Games. Lopez: Tell us a little bit about yourself, are you married and do you have children? Ramirez: I am still single and I do not have any children. My life now is boxing and I dedicated my life to it. You can see from my record, I am an up and comer fighter ready to explode. Lopez: Any final words you would like to say to the Filipinos and to Bautista? Bautista tumbles against Ponce de Leon in August, 2007. Ramirez: Thank you to the Filipinos for being kind to me. I will do my best and give 100% in my fight. I want to take the title back to Mexico, and for Bautista, be ready to see stars; I will win by a huge KNOCKOUT! If the knockout doesn?t come, I will punish you for 12 rounds. Lopez: Wow, this will be a huge Main Event, Good Luck and may the best man win!
