CHAMPION VS CHAMPION REMATCH: NIETES VS FUENTES IN MEXICO FOR JULY

PhilBoxing.com

In a conversation this morning with Jorge Barrera, manager of WBO World Minimumweight champion Moises ?Baby Face Assassin? Fuentes, he announced that a rematch with WBO World Light Flyweight Champion Donnie ?AHAS? Nietes will take place this July in Mexico.

Barrera said that Zanfer Promotions has given the go signal for the rematch and it will be held in Mexico as Team Fuentes will work on their new game plan as they have exposed the weaknesses of Nietes and also fine tune some parts of Fuentes that need improvement.

This past March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu, Philippines, an epic battle ended up in a controversial draw. In a battle in this past Pinoy Pride 18 series, the fans finally got there money's worth witnessing a fight that will go down as one of the best to hit the Philippine Islands.

There were two world class fighters in their prime, fined tuned like a Ferrari and a Lamborghini doing battle in the squared circle, in tip top shape, there would be no excuses. They would be giving their all they had trained for. There would be no class C fighters, out of shape fighters or jet lagged fighters in this fight as the fans have witnessed in the past.

The tough Nietes has proven that he can win away from the Philippines as he has defended his world titles on three occasions in Mexico. Nietes is closing in on 6 years as a world champion in two weight divisions. The Mexican fans love Nietes and they will open their arms to him as he is a true warrior.

There was a controversy in the last fight as Team Fuentes wanted Filipino Judge Atty Danrex Tapdasan removed as a judge. They said Tapdasan could be biased and brought up the fight between Nietes and Garcia where Tapdasan was a judge. The WBO Asia Pacific Supervisor Leon Panoncillo gave his assurance to Team Fuentes that Tapdasan was appointed by WBO President Paco Valcarcel and that the WBO has a lot of integrity and the honorable Tapdasan is a much respected judge and that the WBO has full confidence in Tapdasan to be fair.

Team Fuentes should have made their concerns known when the judges were announced weeks before the fight. The three judges had the scores as follows: Atty. Danrex Tapdasan, 115-113 for Nietes; Adalaide Byrd, 114-114 and Pat Russell, 114-114 for a final result of a majority draw.

Jorge Barrera said they will request all neutral judges in this fight and will want more than the $60,000 they were given in the last fight.

Barrera said, ?we will win by ?KNOCKOUT? to end all controversies as Marquez did to Pacquiao.
