GOV. MARQUEZ TO SUPPORT BORACAY GLOBAL CONFAB

PhilBoxing.com

God is good in all His mysterious ways!

In an official but rather I have to call it more of a personal meeting between this writer and the Honorale Governor of Aklan Carlito Marquez on November 21st , 2006 at the province's capitol , he had given me the assurance that the provincial government of Aklan will support the hosting of this first ever "WIBA-WPBF joint global convention " on January 21-25,2007.

While there is no question to some comments that if not all , other top officials of the land are trying to get a piece of Manny Pacquiao's remarkable success for publicity, Governor Marquez is bent on creating an avenue of possibly producing from his own turf the next Pacman in the years to come. His commitment to lend unconditional support to this international conclave of professional boxing honchos from all parts of the globe belonging to these two boxing bodies and their affiliates is considered done.

Considering that the top heirarchy of the WIBA headed by its President Ryan Wissow of Florida , USA and David Young of the WPBF , a registered group in Virginia,USA and mostly occupied by the Chinese officers , have had picked-up Boracay island paradise as the unanimous choice for the venue of this global meeting , Aklan province now through its mystique island of Malay town will be the host locality of conducting the international affair.

Malay municipality is governed by its hard working Mayor Ciceron Cawaling." This is big and the affair in itself is global " , thus stated by the good and dynamic Governor in our meeting together with his chief-of -staff Jess Marquez and the provincial sports coordinator.

GAB Chairman Eric R.Buhain in return expressed an appreciation to the gesture extended by the local government of Aklan for the realization of this convention comes January of 2007 which carries with it the theme" Promoting solidarity and goodwill among nations through professional boxing".

In short , the staging of this major event in the history of professionalboxing in the country is almost on the go.With the Deaprtment of Tourism's support through Director Edwin Trompeta per Secretary Ace Durano's instructions and with the Philippine National Police' , PNP's main goal to secure the delegations and to ensure the safety and security of the place , its projects tremendous success.Worthy to mention are the names of PNP Director William Macavinta and Superintendent Remus P.Canieso under the command of Recom 6 Director Chief Superintendent Gerry Barias. Thanks in advance Sirs!
I
I have already articulated these things via the emails I'ved sent to the executive officers of both WIBA and the WPBF.And they are really commending the inter-related agencies cooperations in showcasing the Philippines as the international convention venue with much to offer in terms of tourism and investment opportunities to the hundreds of fforeign guests and participants. We need not to divulge the day to day activities slated for this convention for security reasons. So Kalibo , Aklan now will be highlighted as the global haven of boxing conventions in the country. And I could not imagine the projection and the gain of international publicity to be earned by the province.I was informed that the Japanese television and top sports coverages will be here in time for the convention in Boracay because of the " Rumble in Boracay".Originally the double championship and titled matches involving professional male and female boxing competitions was dubbed as the "Rumble in Bora".But Governor Marquez suggested not to call it "Bora" alone but have it named Boracay instead. And according to Marquez , "bora" is not good before the eyes and ears of Aklanons , we submit , and have it renamed "Rumble in Boracay".Other national print and broadcast and television media are also expected to come and cover the international event as expected.Big Thank you for Governor Carlito Marquez !

We will just be announcing whose who in the national powers or VIP's are coming and to grace the occassion this January 2007 and to honor the testimonial solidarity banquet to be held in the finest Pearl of the Pacific Hotel in the island to signal the opening of the joint global confab. And ofcourse , we are trying to get the nod of the "Great Manny Pacquiao" to attend and answer the requests coming from our foreign counterparts in the boxing scene to see the Filipino all time Champion in person in Boracay ! That's how Filipino world class boxers now are being highly regarded here and in the international community of boxing. We are enjoining all our local boxing managers , promoters , trainers , referee-judges, stable owners and all afficionados to join us and be in this convention to show our solid strenght for and in the interest of professional boxing development in the Philippines.
