LUIS 'PAN BLANCO R?OS KNOCKS OUT SALGUERO; BECOMES CASIMERO'S MANDATORY CHALLENGER (VIDEO) By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 26 Oct 2012 Rios. One punch technical KO -- With one violent right uppercut to the chin in round 11, Panama's Luis 'Pan Blanco' R?os spectacularly knocked out game Felipe Salguero of M?xico tonight at the Roberto Dur?n Arena in Panama to become the IBF world's #1 Jr. Flyweight as well mandatory challenger for Filipino IBF Jr. Flyweight World Champion Jhonriel Casimero. During eleven rounds, the entertaining combat lived up to expectations with Salguero pressing forward and Luis 'Pan Blanco' Rios exhibiting smart moves, speed and good boxing skills. Even at the moment of the technical knock out, it was the jalape?o kid Salguero (a quality fighter former titlist who battled 12 rounds with reigning veteran WBO world champ Donnie Nietes), the warrior pressing the action, sending the 22-year old lanky Panamanian to the canvas in a neutral corner during the action of round 5. Should the close fight would have reached the scheduled 12 round, the dangerous former Casa del Boxeo Campe?n Azteca Felipe Salguero might have emerged victorious because of his aggressive stance and the knock down. However, after one minute of battle into round 11 with plenty of stamina, the Mexican pinned 'Pan Blanco' against the ropes with bad intentions. Salguero felt good and was attacking. It was at that critical instant when Rios delivered a well-timed counter attack. With a vicious right uppercut sent with timed accuracy and awesome power, 'Pan Blanco' caught Salguero clean in his chin snapping hard his head backwards, sending the Mexican to canvas flat on his back. Hurt and with unstable legs the brave kid of Toluca, M?xico managed to stand up, but American referee Mr. Ernie Sharif of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania had seen enough and did not even think of unnecessarily endangering Salguero as the game Mexican was not fit to continue the violent battle; waving all actions off. Time of the technical KO was 1:27 seconds of the 11th round. "The Mexican is so good, wanted to 'toast' me! But luckily I managed to impose my power," said a jubilant Luis Rios, nicknamed 'Pan Blanco,' Spanish words that mean 'White Bread,' one of his favorite snacks. IBF President Daryl Peoples who is in attendance at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama during the exciting Rios-Salguero combat, confirmed that 'Pan Blanco' Rios becomes the IBF #1 ranked Jr. Flyweight fighter as well as mandatory challenger for IBF Jr. Flyweight world champion Johnriel Casimero, IBF world title fight that will likely take place in the Philippines or Panama in March of 2013.
