Luzon Boxing Ring Officials Professional Association Formed By Salvador Lopez PhilBoxing.com Sun, 03 Apr 2011 Boxing ring officials composed of professional referees and judges based in Luzon convened today in Makati to successfully organize their professional association. To be known as ?Association of Professional Philippine Boxing Ring Officials-Luzon Chapter?, the association was formed with the objectives of promoting camaraderie among its members, uplift the standards of the profession, and promote professional growth and welfare of the members. Though organized as an independent entity, it is the association?s purpose to work hand in hand with the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) in achieving these objectives. Elected as members of the Board of Trustees who immediately assumed office were Silvestre Abainza, Engr. Greg Ortega, Elmer Lopez, Eduardo Nobleza, Nowel Haduca, Sammy Bernabe and Salvador Lopez. International Referee Silvestre Abainza was elected Chairman of the Board and concurrent President of the association. Among those present in the meeting were International Referee Ferdinand Estrella and Atty. Epie Almeda, both of whom declined to get elected for personal reasons but nonetheless provided invaluable insights relative to the founding of the association. Prior to today?s meeting, a preliminary conference was held in March 19 among the ring officials to discuss the matter of organizing the professional association. It was agreed upon in the said conference that a follow-up meeting be held on April 2 to proceed with its formation and to elect its initial set of officers.
