“FATAL FURY: CITY OF THE WOLVES” MEDIA WORKOUT PhilBoxing.com Wed, 30 Apr 2025  THE RING MAGAZINE'S HISTORIC FIRST-EVER U.S. BOXING CARD “FATAL FURY: CITY OF THE WOLVES” NEW YORK – April 29, 2025 – Fight week continued on Tuesday for the first-ever live boxing match from Times Square, as Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez and their respective opponents stepped into the ring for a media workout before they co-headline the Ring Magazine’s historic first-ever boxing event in the United States, titled “FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves”, this Friday, May 2, live worldwide exclusively on DAZN PPV (5:30 p.m. ET). The event is brought to you by SNK Corporation in association with Oscar De La Hoya for Golden Boy Promotions and Eddie Hearn for Matchroom Boxing. International boxing star Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) and former world champion Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) will square off in a welterweight contest. Former undisputed lightweight world champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will face former unified titleholder Jose Carlos Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs) in a battle of elite super lightweights, and reigning WBO Super Lightweight World Champion and former unified lightweight king Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) is defending his title against undefeated top contender Arnold Barboza Jr. (32-0, 11 KOs). Tuesday’s workout also included Japanese boxing prodigy and The Ring Magazine ambassador Reito Tsutsumi, ahead of his pro debut, and his opponent, Levale Whittington (1-2-1, 1 KO), who will meet in a six-round featherweight fight. Kicking off the night will be the “Battle of the Badges,” a special light heavyweight contest pitting New York’s “Finest” against New York’s “Bravest.” Joel Allen, representing the NYPD, will take on the FDNY’s James Gennari in a battle appropriately taking place in the heart of Manhattan. The jam-packed Garcia vs. Romero event is part of DAZN’s Knockout Weekend Bundle — two back-to-back nights of world-class boxing, available exclusively on DAZN PPV. On Friday, May 2, The Ring Magazine presents FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, a first-of-its-kind five-fight card live from Times Square featuring Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Teofimo Lopez. One night later, boxing icon Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez vs. William Scull headlines an electric Riyadh Season event, on Saturday, May 3, as Scull looks to claim Álvarez’s WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles. Whenever I get a feeling about retiring someone, I just know it. I know once I knock him out, he’s done. “I’m gonna take control of the fight right away. I have to control the ring. He’s not a better boxer than me, but he’s gonna try to do things to make me uncomfortable. Ring generalship is my best friend when I step into the ring. On pre-fight build-up with Rolly Romero “Rolly is good at making people pay attention to what he says. You have to be used to what he does. I’m enjoying every moment of it. On trainer Derrick James “Derrick’s style is all technique. He’s not worried about flash and that’s the perfect person for me. I’ve already got the speed and I’ve got the power that I can turn on. I called it. I knew it was gonna be at 147 pounds and be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. Look at this. On discussion of previous sparring sessions with Garcia “We’re both tired of watching that. We’re two evolved new fighters. It doesn’t matter in the ring on Friday. On pre-fight talk of a Garcia vs. Haney rematch “It has nothing to do with me. Whatever they wanna do has nothing to do with me.”  Devin Haney “I’m so happy and excited to be back here under the bright lights. I can’t wait for Friday. “In boxing you have to prove yourself time in and time out, just like any other sport. LeBron has to prove himself again and again, and so do I. “Styles make fights. He does a lot of good things and a lot of bad things in there. It’s my job to go in there and handicap him of the good things he does and exploit the bad things. “This is a great fight on paper, but it’s a mismatch. Ramirez has a tailor-made style for me. I know he’s gonna put on the pressure. If he comes in stupid, then I will put him down. On a Ryan Garcia rematch “Right now Ramirez is on my menu. Once I finish my breakfast, I’ll move on to my lunch… We all know what the people want to see. There’s unfinished business there. But I have to finish what’s in front of me first.”  Jose Carlos Ramirez “I’m preparing for the best Devin Haney. That’s the guy I want to beat. I want that challenge. That’s what I got ready for and that’s why I pushed myself the way I did in training camp. “I feel good…having those extra four pounds have made the weight cut much easier. I’m hoping to show a new Jose Ramirez. I work hard and I want it to show. On his face-off exchange with Haney at Monday’s Grand Arrivals “Yeah his team was saying that I looked a little thick, so I was showing them my six-pack. Then Devin told me I didn’t look thick anymore.”  Teofimo Lopez “This is a blessing and a dream come true for all of us. We’re here to take over as always. It’s ‘The Takeover’ and we’re here to show off our skills. “I’m here to do my part. I looked at all of Teofimo’s best fights. That’s what I’m ready for…I think Josh Taylor let Teofimo get too much confidence, and I’m not gonna let that happen.
