Lagumbay to face Masangkay for PBF super light title
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Mon, 06 Jan 2025

SOUTHPAW Alvin “Time Bomb” Lagumbay of Bukidnon will make a comeback to face Pepito Masangkay of Davao City for the Philippine Boxing Federation super lightweight title on January 18 in Quezon City.
“I'm going to give my best to the fight,” said Lagumbay, who is training with former champion Tacy Macalos at the Hardstone Boxing Gym in Bangar, La Union.
The 29-year-old Lagumbay last fought for the Philippine super lightweight title against Rimar Metuda of Cagayan de Oro City on December 15, 2023 in General Santos City.
The 5-foot-9 Lagumbay [14-8-1, 12KOs] lost by a retirement in the 9th round and has never fought in 2024.
Masangkay, on the other hand, had two fights last year.
He first won against Jules Victoriano of Iloilo by unanimous decision on March 23 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
The 31-year-old Masangkay then lost to Chinese Ju Wu by knockout in the 2nd round for the WBC Far East super lightweight title at Chuxiong in China.
Masangkay, also a southpaw, has six wins with four knockouts against two losses.
The fight is the main event of the “Blow by Blow” by former Senator Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions.
Art Monis is the matchmaker.
