Olascuaga Knocks Out Kano in 3 to Capture Vacant WBO Flyweight Title in Japan

Anthony Olascuaga knocked out Riku Kano in the 3rd round to wrest the vacant WBO world flyweight title at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan Saturday night in the first of two world title fights with the main event featuring the undefeated three-division world champion Junto Nakatani of Japan against mandatory challenger Vincent Astrolabio of the Philippines for Nakatani's WBC bantamweight crown.
Olascuaga (7-1-0, 5KOs) of Los Angeles, CA immediately stablished control of the fight in the first round against the southpaw Kano of Japan, showcasing his speed and combinations and specifically targeting the body of the game Japanese.
In the second round Kano fared better finding home with his right to Olascuaga's face as both combatants had their moments in the round.
In the third round, Olascuaga resumed his body hunting and connected with his counters. Towards the end of the round, Olascuaga unleashed a lethal left uppercut that dropped Kano flustered on the canvas unable to beat the count of Referee Jose Hiram Rivera.
