DAVAO CITY – Former acting president Erwin Protacio of the University of the Philippines Mindanao will run as president of the Davao Regional Football Association [DRFA] in the coming election this month at the Happy Home Cafe & Diner in Torres St.
The 63-year-old Protacio was the acting president when then president Edward “Chaya” Lam died due to illness.
Protacio, who was the secretary-general had to finish the term of Lam until 2019.
“I am after Chaya, under new by-laws of PFF,” said Protacio.
Protacio, who is now 29 years working with UP, was later replaced by Henry Sabate from 2020 until 2023.
An election is needed since there is a new president.
“There are issues regarding the Tiongko Field among others which need to be fixed,” said Protacio.
Protacio, who transferred to UP Mindanao in 1996 now works as the UP Padayon (Public Service) Coordinator.
“It is now has a new motto of UP - "Honor Excellence Service" formerly Honor Excellence before,” said Protacio.
He is also the co-chairman of the Sports Complex Technical Working Group of UP Mindanao.
Protacio said that he will still campaign for his presidency.
