NBA Daily: 2022-2023 Season Preview #19 – Minnesota Timberwolves By Reylan Loberternos PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Oct 2022 In this limited 30-part series, we shall be discussing each team’s latest developments, current roster, and future prospects in the upcoming 2022-2023 NBA season. For every team, we will examine bit-by-bit the important aspects that may shape its progress and provide a rough projection of how it will fare vis-à-vis its previous year’s performance and versus the rest of the league. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES 2021-2022 Season Win-Loss Record: 46-36 Depth Chart: PG – D’Angelo Russell, Jordan McLaughlin, Jaylen Nowell SG – Anthony Edwards, Austin Rivers, Bryn Forbes, P.J. Dozier SF – Jaden McDaniels, Taurean Prince, CJ Elleby, Wendell Moore Jr. PF – Karl-Anthony Towns, Kyle Anderson, Nathan Knight CE – Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid, Luka Garza Injury Updates: No significant injuries. Head Coach: Chris Finch Headliners: Two of the league’s top big men are in Minnesota. The twin towers forged by Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns pose intriguing prospects both for the opposing team and the team itself. Towns will most definitely start at the four, while Gobert takes on the center role for his new team. It will be hard for the opposing teams to score in the shaded area, as both Gobert and Towns are excellent rim protectors. Kyle Anderson was one sneaky acquisition by the Wolves as well. Anderson is an excellent defender, who can handle and pass the ball pretty well for a big man. The backcourt combo of D’Angelo Russel and Anthony Edwards should get a lot of fast breaks with two excellent defensive rebounders and secondary defenders in tow. Towns should remain the focal point of their set offense, as he is both a very good low post player and an excellent perimeter scorer as well. People often forget that he is the reigning three-point shootout king… a mark of his marksmanship. Anthony Edwards has shown that he is the real deal. He will continue to improve this upcoming season, with another year under his belt. What’s expected of him is more maturity and better shot selection, which should result to a much-improved efficiency. On paper, this is a very good team. Barring any major injuries and/or chemistry issues, they should be among the top contenders in the West. Comments are highly appreciated.
