FORMER International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas and his team will arrive in Cavite today (June 14) from Bukidnon to continue his training as part of his preparation for his rematch with Fernando Daniel “Pumita” Martinez of Argentina.
The 30-year-old Ancajas (33-2-2, 22KOs) will arrive together with manager-chief trainer Joven Jimenez and sparring partners John Mark Alimane (8-1-0, 4KO), Jerald Paclar (16-5-3, 9KOs), Samuel Salva (19-1-0, 12KOs), Angelo Beltran (6-0, 4KOs) and Daniel Lim (9-0, 2KOs).
They were all staying at the house of Jimenez in Barangay Lourdes, Dangcagan, Bukidnon.
Ancajas will continue his training at the Survival Camp of Barangay Ramirez in Magallanes, Cavite.
“We will stay for two weeks only and transfer to Navsog Philippine Navy in Cavite City,” said Jimenez.
There is still no final date yet on the rematch. It is expected to be in 3rd or 4th week of August.
“But we plan to be in the US two weeks before the fight,” said Jimenez.
Ancajas’ wife Ruth sometimes assists him in removing his wristband in every practice. Ancajas used to be losing weight at 160 pounds before. But now Ancajas has only maintained 125 to 138 pounds.
Ancajas will also start with his dietician in Manila already.
