Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs Carlos Cuadras for vacant WBC Super Fly Belt Feb 5 in the USA

PhilBoxing.com

In a rematch between two former world champions, Thailand's heavy-handed warrior Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will collide against slick, taller Mexican Carlos "El Principe" Cuadras of Guamuchil, Sinaloa, for the vacant WBC Super Flyweight world title in a hot rematch war set for February 5 in the United States at a venue still to be defined.

News of the exciting Srisaket vs Cuadras battle for the vacant strap was confirmed to NotiFight by Cuadras' coach Manuel López.

Interestingly enough, Sor Rungvisai and Cuadras already traded heavy blows 7 years ago in a fast-paced rumble won by the Mexican via Technical Decision in 8 rounds.

In that match in Ciudad de Mexico, "El Principe" Cuadras suffered a severe gash over his left eye from an accidental clash of heads.

The Las Vegas referee Jay Nady deducted a point from Srisaket under WBC's accidental butt rule; the fight was stopped and Cuadras was declared the winner and new World Champion as he was ahead in the scorecards. Sor Rungvisai got dethroned.

Would something similar happen again... or something even more electrifying?

Fans can be 100% sure that Cuadras (39-4-1, 27 KO’s)) will try to repeat the win in whatever possible way so as become world champion again.

That’s the Mexican’s ultimate goal as a prize-fighter and he does not intend to let pass the golden chance. No señor.

Meanwhile, the fearsome Thai warrior will as well come out swinging hard with the same mean intentions, making this one war a hugely attractive and exciting rumble that no boxing fan can afford to miss.

That's precisely why both fighters are already copiously sweating, as so much is at stake.

"Cuadras is at the moment training at high-elevation at the Otomí Center training facility, where he will carry out his intense preparation for the important duel," assured his coach Manuel López.

Coach Lopez will be by his side throughout the month of January, making sure that his fighter arrives on fight night in his very best physical shape ready to get the job done.

"We are going to work hard on speed and counter-punching," explained trainer Manuel López, son of renowned late Mexican boxing manage/coach Lorenzo López.

"The chances that Carlos comes out with the victory are high," assured the coach.

"That is why we are training hard. The whole month of January we will be in concentration, fine-tuning our strategy, correcting any mistakes that Carlos might have and putting much air in his lungs for the thrilling fight.

"Carlos Cudras wants to be world champion again and I want that too. We are going to bring that WBC Super Flyweight championship to Mexico," López optimistically promises.

Ranked as #3 by the WBC, Carlos Cuadras has, in fact, never stopped training. That’s because he knows his opponent so well.

"The Thai former champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is a very strong fighter.

"We know his capabilities, his style, his experience. Plus, the Thai punches really hard.

"So we are going to work on those factors and others to effectively counter Srisaket Sor Rungvisai," coach López concluded.

By the same token, the 35-year-old Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KO's) is also focused on his preparation with his usual M-150 red & yellow team, headed by his long-time veteran manager/promoter Surachart Pisitwuttinan and sons Titipong and Thainchai “Bank,” getting sharp to do what he can do best: stop opponents.

Ranked #1 by the WBC, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai aims to regaining the world title that once belonged to him and was snatched precisely by the very same man who will be throwing heavy artillery at him again.

What will happen this time around?

Will the furious Thai gladiator disassemble Carlos "El Principe" Cuadras the same way the ravaged the great Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, breaking so many fans’ hearts?

He could.

One well-connected punch from Sor Rungvisai and it could surely be lights out for the skilled Carlos Cuadras. Will that one punch ever land?

May the Best Man Win!
