FALCAO EDGES VOLNY AFTER THE FIGHT WAS STOPPED IN 6 DUE TO HEADBUTT

Esquiva Falcao of Brazil won by 6th round technical split decision over Patrice Volny of Canada in their 12-round scheduled IBF Middleweight title eliminator on the main feature card of the Terrence Crawford vs Shawn Porter WBO welterweight championship at the Michelob Ultra Arena at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas Saturday night. Scores - 58-56, 58-56 and 57-58 in Falcao's favor.
The fight was close throughout where the lefty Falcao tried to penetrate Volny's air-tight defense while Volny tried to score with his right counters. The fight was abruptly stopped at 2:18 in the sixth round when Falcao sustained a huge cut above his left eye due to a gruesome accidental clash of heads.
With the win, Falcao maintained his undefeated record and is now 29 wins with 20KOs while Volny absorbed the first loss of his career and dropped to 16-1-0, 10KOs.
