PhilBoxing.com

Estadella gets pointers from coach, Leonardo Rivera.

Unbeaten Argentinian 126-pounder Mayco "El Pumita" Estadella (8-0-1, 2 KO's) outclassed Buenos Aires warrior Reuquén Cona Facundo "El Topo" Arce (12-3-2, 6 KO's) for a 10-round unanimous decision win to claim the interim Argentine featherweight championship Friday (Nov 27) at the Club de Ajedrez in La Calera in Córdoba, Argentina, a show in which Argentina's beloved world cup winning legend Diego Armando Maradona was remembered.

Right from the getgo, the defeated "Topo" Arce (12-3-2, 6 KO's) demonstrated willingness to engage, trade and best "El Pumita" Estalleda getting some success. But the unbeaten Villa María southpaw Estadella adjusted and dominated the actions for most of the fight displaying effective moves, landing impacts with accurate precision.

Although the outmaneuvered Arce tried to the shorten distance, he could never find the moving Estadella who pivoted impeccably well, showcasing skills as well as optimal shape in his first 10-round battle.

Now, the new interim champ "El Pumita" Estadella has one man in mind: the more experienced Hector Edgardo Sarmiento.

Indeed, Estadella's victory now forces Argentina's champion in recess, former world-title challenger Héctor Edgardo “Pajarito” Sarmiento (21-2, 14 KO's), to face him as soon as Sarmiento fully recovers from an injury that he is currently healing.

Unanimous scores in favor of the new Argentina Featherweight interim champion were: 98.5-92, 98.5-93, and 99-92.5. The third man in the ring was the Víctor Correa.

The surprise of the show was the defeat by knockout of rookie Argentinian middleweight Walter Matthysse Jr. (1-1, 1 KO), who got rocked and stopped in two rounds in his second pro fight by tough local warrior 26-year-old Franco Maximiliano Morello (2-0, 2 KO's).

Matthysse Jr. began well, quickly landing and hurting his opponent. Wanting to finish him right there, he got brutally countered with an explosive hand thrown by the wounded man that rocked Matthysse Jr. down and out. The referee in charge did not even bother to count.

Franco Maximiliano Morello shocks and ravages Walter MAtthysse Jr in two rounds.

However, the tough result, could make the young Walter Matthysse Jr. a better, more careful fighter.

In another supporting battle, Cordovan fighter José Antonio Villalobos (13-6-2, 8 KO's) stopped Juan Andres Figueroa (5-2, 3 KO's) of Buenos Aires in an thrilling fourth round knockout.

Also, 140-pounder Nicolás Pablo Demario (13-4-2, 7 KO's) of Ranchos, Buenos Aires, ravaged in three episodes local warrior Diego González (4-9, 0 KO's).
