Mavericks Cruise Past Warriors, 124-97

San Francisco, CA—The Dallas Mavericks showed why they are more than just Luka Doncic’s team as Dwight Powell scored 21 points and was a perfect 9 for 9 from the floor leading his team to an easy victory over the Golden State Warriors, 124-97.
“The guys have been finding me in good spots that are close to the rim and I’m dunking and finishing them,” Powell said after the game, “They are high percentage shots.”
Doncic added 20 points and 8 rebounds in just 27 minutes of action as the Mavs lead by as much 30 points, winning their 4th straight game against Golden State. Dallas is now 25-15 and in firm position to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
“It’s going great for us, we are sixth in the conference,” Doncic explained, “A lot of people said we weren’t in talks for playoffs and I’m really glad we are sixth right now and hopefully get in the playoffs.”
Rookie Jordan Poole had the best game since mid-November, scoring 17 points off the bench. Fellow rookie Eric Paschall added 16 points off the bench, while D'Angelo Russell and Glenn Robinson III had 13 points apiece. Golden State (9-33) has now lost its ninth consecutive game (a season-long streak), falling to 6-14 at home this season.
The Mavs have a quick turn-around as they play the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento in less than 24 hours. However, former all-star Kristaps Porzingis may return from an 8 game absence due to a sore right knee.
The Warriors will next face the Denver Nuggets (27-12) Thursday night at Chase Center.
