NBA Daily: Filipino-American Clarkson Keeps Utah Unbeaten Since Trade, Rallies Jazz to Beat Wizards 127-116

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – The Utah Jazz used a 21-3 run to rally from 15 points down in the third frame and beat the Washington Wizards 127-116 on Sunday night (Monday morning, Philippine time) at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

Utah has now extended their winning streak to 9 and is now tied with Denver at second place in the Western Conference team standings.

This nine-game unbeaten run by the Jazz has perfectly coincided with the arrival of Jordan Clarkson, who was acquired by the team via the pre-Christmas trade that sent the Filipino-American from Cleveland to Utah.

Clarkson scored 17 of his 23 bench points in the second half and gave Utah its first advantage since the 6:52 mark of the first quarter.

Five other Jazz players scored in double figures, led by Bojan Bogdanovic, who finished with game-high 31 points. Rudy Gobert stuffed the stats sheet with 21 markers, 14 boards, 2 dimes, 1 steal, and 2 blocks for Utah, who improved to 27 wins and 12 losses.

Utah’s leading scorer Donovan Mitchell sat this one out due to an illness.

Bradley Beal returned from a five-game absence due to soreness in his right leg, to score 25 points for the Wizards, who dropped to a 13-26 win-loss card – good only for 12th place in the Eastern Conference team standings.

The Wizards will travel to Chicago to face the Bulls on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, Utah will try to extend its winning streak, as the face the Nets in Brooklyn on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning, Philippine time).

How they scored:

Jazz 127 – Bogdanovic 31, Clarkson 23, Gobert 21, Ingles 20, Mudiay 14, O’Neale 10, Niang 6, Bradley 2
