Warriors Dominate Fourth Quarter, Extend Win Streak to Four
By Jason Aniel PhilBoxing.com Sat, 28 Dec 2019

San Francisco, CA—The Golden State Warriors stormed back from a 13-point deficit to escape with a 105-96 win over the Phoenix Suns in front of a sold out Chase Center. Entering the fourth quarter the Warriors trailed, 78-66, when the Warriors blitzed the Suns 39-18 in the fourth quarter and have now won their season best four straight games.
D’Angelo Russell scored a Warriors-high 31 points, his seventh outing of 30-plus points on the season. During the four-game winning streak, he is averaging team-highs of 26.5 points and 5.3 assists per game. However, it’s been the Warriors defense that has sparked this four game winning streak and it continued against the Suns.
“We forced 27 turnovers and scored 28 points off of those turnovers,” head coach Steve Kerr explained after the game, “that was the game 28-7 in terms of points off turnovers in our favor… I thought Glenn (Robinson III) battled all night against (Devin) Booker… He had a great night, but Glenn did a really good job of just trying to stay in front of him and hound him.”
Devin Booker led the Suns with 34 points but no other Suns player was able to surpass 11 points.
Warriors rookie forward Alen Smailagić made his NBA his debut at 19 years, 131 days old, becoming the 4th youngest player to appear in a game for the Warriors. He played four minutes in the first quarter, scoring four points. Draymond Green in praising the rookie after the game said, “I think coach gave him two minutes tonight and he (Smailagić) made him give him four…he did his job… he was dying to get out there and he played well… I’m extremely happy for him.”
Golden State will try to extend the streak to give when they host Luka Dončić and the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow night at Chase Center.
