Juan Miguel Elorde Challenges WBO Superbantam Champ Emmanuel Navarrete Sep 14 in Las Vegas By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Fri, 23 Aug 2019 ![]() Juan Miguel Elorde. ?Great things happen to those who can patiently wait? so they say. And, for Juan Miguel ?Migs? Elorde such a statement couldn?t be more apropos. Elorde, a grandson of the Great Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde patiently waited for his turn to come as he build his record to 28-1-0, 15 KO and earn the No. 2 ranking in the WBO list of world class junior featherweights. On Saturday, September 14th at the T-Mobile Arena fight card that will be headlined by Tyson Fury versus Otto Wallin, Elorde will be challenging Junior Featherweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete (28-1-0, 24 KO) for his title. The fight will be carried on ESPN+ and it will be another great Mexico vs Philippines title match. It is promoted by Bob Arum?s Top Rank Boxing. Navarrete is fresh from a third round blow out of Francisco De Vaca last week at Los Angeles and since he thinks he had an easy fight and is in great condition, he readily took the fight versus Elorde. Migs Elorde will be fighting outside of the Philippines for only the third time. His first time was at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas where he lost a four rounder and the second time was a knockout victory over Ratchanon Sawangsoda on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysee at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia a year and a month ago. The tile fight will be a huge one for Elorde and a giant step towards earning a big name in boxing and the big money that comes with it. But, I am sure it does not faze him much as he is confident on his ability and his skills as a fighter. He has not lost a fight since losing a 4 round decision to Gerry Guevarra at the Mandalay Bay back in 2011. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ed de la Vega, DDS. ![]() |
