Stephen Curry and Nike (Conclusion)

There are several other reasons why Stephen curry refused to re-sign with Nike.

Rumors, according to a SportsChew.com report, Curry left Nike due to the company?s refusal to include his favorite bible verse into its shoe design.

When the two-time NBA MVP signed with Under Armour, his favorite verse, Philippians 4:13 ? ?I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me?, was included on the tongue of the shoes produced by the company.

The ?I can do all things? part of the verse, in fact, appears on the inside of the tongue.

Curry is very religious, SportsChew.com reported. ?He met his wife, Ayesha Disa Curry, while they attended the same family church when they were still teenagers. They were both in the same youth group at the church and ended up getting married there.?

One of Curry?s signature moves, is tapping his chest and to heaven whenever he makes a shot. Asked about what that means, the Golden State Warriors guard answered: ?it means have a heart for God?. It keeps him grounded, he added, and reminds him after every shot why he plays the game and where he gets his strength from.

Ever since 4 years ago, Steph has partnered with ?Nothing But Nets?, a campaign of the United Nations, aimed at stopping malaria epidemic that affects thousands of families in Africa.

Every 60 seconds, a child is killed by Malaria. The organization provides mosquito nets treated with insecticide to save the lives of families in need in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Curry was more than happy to step up and not only help these families, but bring awareness to these staggering numbers. He thought the best way to do it was to incorporate it into his play on the court.

You won?t believe what he agreed to and how many lives he has potentially saved because of it.

He vowed that for every 3-pointer he makes, he would personally donate 3 mosquito nets to the foundation. In the first year he participated, the 2012-13 season, he broke the NBA record for 3-pointers in a season with 272 makes from beyond the arc.

Curry came close that the next season making 261. He then broke his own record in 2014-15 with 286. And in 2017, he shattered the record with 402 3-pointers.

Over the last 4 seasons, the father of three children with Ayesha ? Riley, Ryan and Canon -- has personally saved the lives of over 3,663 families.

The Warriors have joined his cause and match his donations every season bringing the total to over 7,326 Curry and teammates have helped so far.

Of the tree children, Riley, 6, happens to be the mos popular and has, in fact, been responsible for Curry?s decision in choosing Under Armour over the other bidders.

Curry Curry himself admitted this in public. The story goes that when the time came for him to decide, he gave Riley three different brands of shoes to pick from -- one from Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.

She picked up one shoe, threw it over her shoulder, and picked up another and, again, threw it away over her shoulder. The one left was an Under Armour shoe, which she brought to Steph and that?s when he said it clicked with him.
