BOBBY HAS TO PROVE HE IS MORE THAN JUST MANNY?S BROTHER

PhilBoxing.com

He may be famous just for being the younger brother of the current WBC international super featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao. But Alberto "Bobby" Pacquiao is highly regarded for his stamina and endurance in his fights.

The younger Pacquiao, nicknamed "The Sniper", also trains at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. He is set to fight Fernando Trejo on November 23 (Nov 24 Manila Time) at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California.

Practically all boxing experts and fans concluded that Bobby could not match Manny?s dexterity, charisma and achievements on and off the boxing ring. But in this fight, Bobby is out to redeem himself and to prove that he has a skill of his own and he is not always under the shadow of his brother.

Bobby now has 27 wins (12 by KOs) with 13 defeats and 3 draws. On the other hand, Trejo?s record is 30 wins (18 by KO) and 12 defeats. Trejo was originally from Mexico City, but now he is residing in Texas, USA.

Pacquiao turned professional in 1997 and was not so renowned and not so successful in his fights in the Philippines. He was just simply known as the ?brother of Manny.? It was when fought and won over Carlos Navarro that his star began to shine on June 2005, wresting the WBC Continental Americas super featherweight title.

More success came along his way specially when he defeated former champion Carlos Hernandez and conquered former world
featherweight titlist Kevin Kelley. Those fights were held in the United States.

He was supposed to defend his WBC Continental Americas title against Hector Velasquez on November 2006, but Bobby was automatically stripped of his title when he was three pounds over the limit during the official weigh-in. Bobby was later disqualified in the eleventh round for hitting too many low blows.

On June 9, 2007, in a ferocious bout at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Bobby met his latest conqueror, Mexican Humberto Soto who bloodied his face and knocked him out in the seventh round. He showed phenomenal sturdiness, but it was no match against Soto's superior punches.

Trejo, nicknamed "El Pillo" won over Jose Armando Sta. Cruz by TKO for the NABF lightweight title on August 2005. He likewise won the NABF super featherweight championship on March 2006 over Luis Antonio Arceo by unanimous decision. He prevailed over Sean Plessis on January 2007 for the IBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title by unanimous decision.
