PhilBoxing.com

BOSTON ? In a seesaw battle involving two of the best playoff contenders in the East, the Washington Wizards worked their magic on the Celtics to win, 125-124, Wednesday night at the TD Garden.

All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal poured in 34 points and 9 assists to lead Washington over Boston in an exciting contest involving 2 overtimes on Wednesday night at the TD Garden.

Four other Wizards finished in double figures. Power forward Markieff Morris matched up against twin Marcus of the opposing team in several plays -- scoring 20 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Small forward Otto Porter Jr had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Ian Mahinmi contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Tomas Satoransky added 10 points and 6 assists.

The contest was tied 106-all at the end of the regulation when guard Jodie Meeks drained a three-pointer with just 2.4 seconds left. Boston?s Marcus Morris missed a jumper at the buzzer to give way for the 1st OT.

For the 2nd OT, Celtic rookie sensation Jayson Tatum made a two-point shot with 3.1 seconds remaining and was fouled by Marcin Gortat in the process -- making it 115-all. He could have won it for Boston had he made the extra free throw, allowing the Wizards to make a final run and escape with a victory.

It was bittersweet for the Celtics which gained its biggest lead at twenty when Tatum made a driving layup to make it 51-31 with 6:53 left in the 2nd quarter. At halftime, the lead was down to seven, 59-52.

Boston was paced by Marcus Morris with 31 points and 9 rebounds while Terry Rozier recorded 21 points and 9 assists.

The Wizards now tote a 39-30 record -- only 1.5 games behind third-place Indiana (40-28) and only a full game behind fourth-place Cavaliers (39-28). The Celtics (46-22) remain at 2nd in the East.

Washington went 46-for-97 for a 47.4% field goal conversion while Boston had 48-for-99 for 48.5% clip.
