LEAGUE OF FISTS 3: INDONESIAN KIE RAHA STUNS AILI

PhilBoxing.com

SHANGHAI, CHINA- Rusmin Kie Raha of Indonesia shocked the hometown crowd when he outlasted Aizi Aili of Xinjiang, China in the main bout of a fight card held at One Show Space in Shanghai.

Aili threw rapid fire punches in the opening round but Raha weathered the storm and managed to make a fight out of it in the second. The fight turned nasty with head butts and low blows but furious exchanges kept the fans cheering in the subsequent rounds.

Raha went to the body and despite being staggered in the fifth, fought back and continued on his warpath. Aili faded and looked spent at the end of the fifth. In the sixth and final round, Aili was on the back foot and resorted to a stick and move routine. It turned out to be the wrong strategy they way the scorecards went to the consistently aggressive Indonesian.

The judges? scores ? Yin Haiyang ? 58-56 and Yang Hong ? 59-55 for Kie Raha, Tao Zhuwu had it 57-57.

The Indonesian?s corner celebrated inside the ring and they got a well deserved applause from the disappointed home fans.

Aili suffers his second loss and is now 5W-2L-1D,2KO?s. He is a losing junior welterweight semi-finalist of the first season of the League of Fists tournament but has since bounced back with wins against two foreign boxers ? Thai Nopphorn Phosa and Filipino Gabriel Royo.

Kie Raha (15-11-3, 3 KO?s) lost by 7th round KO to Jason Pagara in Maasin City, Philippines four years ago. A little more than a year later, he would lose by technical decision to another Filipino, Czar Amonsot, in a PABA title bout in Australia.

Featherweight Shaofang Luo beat Filipino expat Richard Garcia by split decision. The fight was marred by holding and grabbing by both sides but referee Mekin Sumon managed to control the protagonists in a rather difficult four round fight.

The scores ? Yang Hong (40-36) and Tao Zhuwu (39-37) for Luo, while Surat Soikrachang had it for Garcia at 39-37.

Garcia (26W-23L-1,7KO?s), who works as a boxing trainer in Qindao, China, came out of a two year hiatus to beat Chinese boxer Baihediya by unanimous decision in Dali, China last February. Luo is now 3-0,0 KO?s.

For the rest of the four round undercards- in a cruiserweight match, Zhu Xinglong beat Ren Yi by unanimous decision,Kuranbaev Avzalbek of Tajikistan bloodied the nose of Yan Jie in the third and cruised to a unanimous decision win in their middleweight contest. Huo Ziqiang beat Pierdong by majority decision in their welterweight match, flyweight Su Yinhuan outworked Zhang Xuanming and prevailed by unanimous decision and in the opening bout, lightweight Aikeremujiang knocked out Liang Wei in the second round with a hard punch to the solar plexus. Time ? 1:56.

This show was the first of a back to back weekend fight card. The League of Fists is a professional boxing tournament currently in its third season. It is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK. The fights were officiated by Professional Boxing Commission of China.
