MARK ?MAGNIFICO? MAGSAYO WINS BY A TWELVE ROUND UNANIMOUS DECISION AGAINST LATE SUBSTITUTE RAMIRO ROBLES
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 25 Sep 2016

Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo retained his WBO International featherweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over late substitute Ramiro Robles who had lost four of his last six bouts but battled gamely against the Filipino who dropped him with a right hook to the head in round two and a thundering right hook to the body in round seven in a dominating performance that fell short of hopes for a knockout.
Magsayo ripped punches into Robles body all throughout the fight but eased up in the championship rounds as he completely dominated the over-matched Robles who weighed in at 123 pounds compared to Magsayo?s 125.
Magsayo who got some excellent sparring in the US and trained at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym, kept ripping shots to the body and although Robles was dropped, he kept coming forward and while he connected with some shots of his own he had no power to bother the Filipino who is regarded as a future world title prospect.
With the win Magsayo raised his record to 15-0 with 11 knockouts while the game Robles fell to 13-6-1 with 8 knockouts.
Five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire who partnered Dyan Castillejo in the ABS-CBN Sports and The Filipino Channel TV coverage said Magsayo ?knows he has a lot to learn from this fight? in his desire to become a world champion but the fight would make him ?a better, stronger, smarter fighter. His focus was to win this fight and become bigger and learn from this and he showed that in his determination.?
All three judges scored the fight for Magsayo with Alejandro Rocin turning in a 119-107 scorecard, Max DeLuca had it 118-108 and Thomas Taylor 120-106.
