Pinoy Edward Mancito bows to unbeaten Rey Vargas in Mexico By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 24 May 2015 Another Filipino warrior fought Saturday night in Mexico, one week after the stunning upset of compatriot, Eden Sonsona over unbeaten, Adrian Estrella last Saturday. But Edward Mancito (13-1-2, 7 KOs) of Lanao del Norte, was not able to duplicate the heroics of Sonsona and suffered a Unanimous Decision loss to another unbeaten prospect, Rey Vargas, who is now 24-0 (20 KOs). Mancito went down early in the fight, courtesy of a short right hook from the taller Vargas in the opening round. Vargas tried to end the fight after the knockdown as he pummeled Mansito with a barrage of punches in the same round but the Pinoy boxer stood his ground. The 22 year old super bantamweight out of Iligan City not only fought gallantly in the remainder of the round but managed to make it through the final bell of the 10 round bout. But his gallant effort was no match against the rangy and accurate Vargas who scored against his opponent with shots to the head and the body. The three judges at ringside at Palenque, Metepec, M?xico had a shutout score of 100 - 88 each in favor of the unbeaten hometown fighter. Vargas who is being trained by Hall of Fame coach.
