OAKLAND -- - The Golden State Warriors now hold a 2 - 0 lead over the Houston Rockets in their ongoing Western Conference Finals.
Reigning MVP Stephen Curry delivered down the stretch for his 3rd consecutive 30-plus points output in the playoffs. He shot 13 of 31 from the field for 33 points. Curry, who went 5-for-11 from 3-point range, also had six assists.
Warriors center Andrew Bogut held his own in the middle with 14 points and 5 blocks while Klay Thompson, the other half of the Splash Brothers, added 13 points while tirelessly defending Houston spitfire James Harden.
Draymond Green contributed 12 points and 8 boards for Golden State, which narrowly escaped Game 2, 99-98, .
Harden, who was second in the MVP voting, rallied the Rockets from 17 points down in the second quarter and gave his team a chance to finish off the Warriors in the final quarter.
But Harden couldn't even get off a shot dying seconds of regulation as Curry and Thompson trapped him on the left corner.
"It's frustrating.. It's frustrating to give the game away like that," Harden told reporters.
Harden finished an assist short of yet another triple double performance. He scattered 38 points, 10 boards and nine assists. Dwight Howard pitched in 19 points and 17 rebounds despite starting the game with a left knee sprain.
"We're not going to go anywhere, We're just going to keep standing here and swinging," Coach Kevin McHale told reporters.
Game 3 is this Saturday, (Sunday AM in Manila) at the Toyota Center in Houston.
The Rockets, down 0-2 in this best-of-7 series, rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals. (JSM)
