ABDULHAMID AVENGES LOSS TO MENDOZA
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Tue, 20 Jan 2015

Crowd-favorite Adam Diu "Big Daddy" Abdulhamid displayed more telling blows to avenge his early loss to Jay-R Mendoza in their much-awaited rematch Saturday night at the Oval Plaza covered court in General Santos City.
The 20-year old Abdulhamid used his height advantage to dominate the 10-round main header and won by a unanimous decision. The 5-foot-8 Abdulhamid bowed to the 5-foot-4 Mendoza on points in their first encounter last Nov. 27 at the SAFI compound in Barangay Tambler in Gensan.
Abdulhamid improved his record to 4 wins with 1 knockout and 2 loses while Mendoza dropped to 10 wins, 18 loses.
Mendoza was supposed to fight against Abdulhamid's stablemate Harmonito "Lights Out" dela Torre, reigning World Boxing Federation (WBF) world super featherweight champion in a non-title 10-round bout.
But dela Torre got sick with flu and was adviced by his doctor to take a much-needed rest.
The free to the public boxing card was the inaugural presentation for 2015 by the Sanman Promotions also owned by Dexter Tan and John Ray Manangquil.
Former New Zealand amateur boxer Ben Jade Slight made a smashing pro debut by knocking out with a head blow on Michael Manambay in 2:59 of the first round of a scheduled 4-rounder.
"Talagang malakas si Slight," said Manangquil, who handles Slight.
Five other boxers also from the Sanman Boxing Gym all beat their respective opponents.
Mike Angelo Plania pummelled to submission Marwin Cristota in 34 seconds of the 3rd round by body punches. Cristota quit the 6-rounder bout.
Six-rounder Romero Duno knocked out Rey Liparanon by solid body shots in 1:28 of the 1st round.
Ronnie Tanallon outpointed Jonathan Ricablanca by unanimous decision in 8-rounds, while Reymart Gaballo demolished Paolo Permo in 6 rounds also by UD. Marquil Salvana outclassed Davie Ugbamin in 6 rounds by UD. -- LITO DELOS REYES
