Pacquiao enters into new endorsement deal with AirAsia
By Jason Aniel PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Nov 2014

General Santos City, PH?Eight Division World Champion, Manny Pacquiao, entered into a new endorsement partnership with major Asian airlines company, AirAsia. The company is based in Malaysia, and operates flights to 100 destinations spanning 22 countries. The six-month deal, with an option for an additional six months, was finalized on Wednesday afternoon by AirAsia founder, Tony Fernandez, and Pacquiao himself.
The partnership kicks off when AirAsia supplies two Pacquaio themed AirAsia Airbus A320?s to charter Pacquiao and his team to Macau from General Santos City on November 17 in lieu of Pacquiao?s upcoming Welterweight Championship Bout against Chris Algeiri on November 23. This is the first type of deal of any sorts done by AirAsia. Many sports teams in the United States often enter into partnership deals to be the official flight partner of the organization. This is likely the first time a professional boxer has ever entered into such an endorsement.
The deal originated back in September of this year at Los Angeles, California, during the Pacquiao-Algieri Press Conference, when long time Team Pacquiao Member and Associate, Joseph Jose, was introduced through a friend, Justin Agsalud, to Darrin Maki of AirAsia Malaysia. Jose, who has been a member of Team Pacquiao since 2002, Team Pacquiao Member and PBA Kia Sorento Assistant Manager, Joe Ramos, and Michael Koncz, Pacquiao?s adviser, began working together on the details of a potential deal, who all saw a partnership opportunity because of Pacquiao?s frequent need for charter planes during his fights in Macau and outside Las Vegas.
Along with the charter plans for the upcoming fight, both sides plan on collaborating with other marketing opportunities in the future.
