MIAMI- The Miami Heat surged to a 2-0 lead over the Brooklyn Nets in their best-of-7 Eastern Conference semifinals.
LeBron James finished with 22 points, Chris Bosh had 18 and 6 rebounds, and Dwyane Wade added 14 and 7 dimes as the two-time defending champions seized Game 2 Thursday night at the American Airlines Arena.
Beyond the Big 3, the Heat also got 13 points from Ray Allen and 11 from Mario Chalmers, allowing Miami to emerge victorious in a well-fought game that saw 15 ties and 7 lead changes.
Nets forward Mirza Teletovic sank 6-of-9 3s for 20 points, Shawn Livingston chipped in 15 while Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson accounted for 13 each. But All-Star point guard Deron Williams was held scoreless in 36 minutes of play.
Behind by as many as 12 points in the second half, Marcus Thornton brought the Nets to within 79-77 with still 6:55 to go, but back-to-back 3s by Allen and Chalmers and a jumper by Bosh quickly put Miami back up 87-77.
Games 3 is scheduled May 10 (Sunday AM in Manila) at the Barclays Center where the Heat go for an insurmountable 3-0 series advantage.
