Filipino Giovani Rota has been knocked out in the first round of a WBC Asia Boxing Council welterweight title fight in Samut Sakhon, Thailand in another terrible mismatch.
Former two division world champion Sirimongkol Singwancha who has a recvord of 74-2 with 46 knockouts made short work of Rota who stepped into the ring with a record of 7-6 with 4 knockouts and was counted out at 1:28 of the opening round by referee Pongpan Rattanasutorn.
The 25 year old Filipino who was ranked No. 10 by the ABC suffered his third straight defeat having retired in the 4th round against Mark Acub last September 14 after losing by a 6th round TKO to Rey Labao in a Philippine lightweight title fight last March 8.
The 36 year old Sirimongkol had won the WBC super featherweight title after the crown was relinquished by Floyd Mayweather Jr and had earlier won the WBC bantamweight title.
