RP CHAMP BARDON FACES JAPANESE ON JUNE 17

Philippine flyweight champ Jojo Bardon of the Wakee Salud Stable will take on one-time WBA and WBC flyweight contender Trash Nakanuma in a 10-round non-title brawl on June 17 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Bardon (14-9-1, 8 KO's) is coming off a hard-fought split decision victory over Rocky Fuentes for the RP title last March 18, and should be tested when he trades mitts with the veteran Nakanuma, who is fighting in only his second fight since making a comeback following his January 3, 2005 loss to WBA flyweight boss Lorenzo Parra.

In his comeback fight last March 11, Nakanuma (26-6, 12 KO's) disposed of Bardon's stablemate Pingping Tepura in just two rounds.

The San Carlos City-raised, Cebu-based Bardon will depart for Narita on June 15 and will return to the country on June 18.
