Just moments ago, Philboxing.com visited the Wakee Salud gym in Cebu to find out how Jimrex Jaca, one of the country's hottest fighters today, is doing in his training for his May 20 crack at the vacant OPBF super-featherweight title against Japan's Nobuhito Honmo.
Buboy Fernandez, this year's Elorde Awards Trainer of the Year, has been commissioned by Jaca's manager Rex Wakee Salud to take the training chores for Jaca.
Jaca will shoot for his second OPBF crown, having won the OPBF superbantam title in 2004, is now undergoing extensive training under Fernandez, who considers himself a Freddie Roach protege.
Jaca has been sparring against PABA lightweight champ Jun Paderna, lightweight JR Sollano and lightweight Dexter Delada.
"I'm really too fired up for this fight. It's not often that we get an opportunity to fight for such a title," Jaca said prior to doing an excruciating medicine ball routine with Fernandez.
"Jimrex will be in good shape for the fight. He is the type who listens to instructions. So it wont be difficult to apply all that we do on Manny Pacquiao on him," Fernandez stated
