Undefeated Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation minimumweight kingpin Rodel Mayol is set to go full-blast in his war preparation this week, as he girds up for an all-important 12-round eliminator against Mexican Lorenzo Trejo, the NABF champ, on January 28 at the resort paradise in Cancun, Mexico.
Mayol is currently training at the Flores Gym, sparring against the likes of ex-RP junior fly boss Wyndel Janiola and RP no. 5 flyweight Louie Bantigue.
This week, Mayol is set to visit the ALA Gym as well as the Wakee Salud Gym to spar with such other fighters as RP no. 1 flyweight Jojo Bardon, RP no. 10 light-flyweight Ping Tepura, and Jerope Mercado.
Brix Flores, who trains Mayol, also informed that they are set to fly to Japan on January 18, stay overnight, then head to Mexico the following day to allow his ward to acclimatize to the Mexican weather.
Mayol and Flores will be joined in the trip by Japanese trainer Miura, who owns the Dream Gym where they train every time they are in Japan.
Mayol's Japanese manager Yasuo Matsuoka and wife Genara are set to rendesvouz with the group in Mexico on January 22, as they have yet to watch the Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales rematch in Las Vegas.
