Cebu's boxing kingmaker, promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud yesterday indicated that he is in no
mood to accept Bebot Elorde's offer to pit his boxer Jimrex Jaca
against fourth-ranked Baby Lorona Jr, indicating that the latter is
down in the rankings, and that Bukidnon's Samuel Duran, who is rated
no. 3, should take on the no. 2 Jaca for the vacant RP
super-featherweight title.
The title has been declared vacant by the Games and Amusements Board
after erstwhile titleholder Bobby Pacquiao had won the WBC
Continental Americas title.
Top-ranked Caesar Amonsot, who has no upcoming schedule according to
his trainer Edito Villamor, has apparently decided to forego the RP
title possibly to pursue an international title.
Salud indicated that he will put the Jaca-Duran fight on November 12
at the Baguio Convention Center in a promotion being put up by North
Cotabato Governor Emmanuel Pinol as part of the latter's ABS-CBN
program set to be launched in December.
"Samuel Duran is the more deserving fighter to face Jaca. Baby Lorona
is only rated no 4," Salud said.
Two other title fights are being readied in the November 12 card,
which will also feature Cebu's Wyndel Janiola in his first fight
under the promotional banner of Pi?ol.
