Bert Batawang of the SGG Stable proved that age is not a hurdle as he impressively stopped Indonesia's Jack Amisa in five rounds to capture the WBO Asia Pacific 108-lb title.
The bout, which took place in Linyi, China, was supervised by the hard-working WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo, who has carried the Asia and Africa zones to success, and is now putting his Midas Touch in China.
The bout, watched by some 5,000 Chinese fans, ended at 1:45 of the fifth round with Batawang declared as winner.
"Over 5000 fans witnessed the maiden fight of the WBO Asia Pacific championship in China. The WBO is really taking over specially that Manny Pacquiao is our champion. The promoter is planning to have another WBO event in January, 2010," informed Panoncillo.
