Looking strong and confident, former world champion Carlos Cañizales (26-2-1, 19 KOs) has arrived in Japan.
The hard-hitting Venezuelan landed last Friday, August 28, for his 4th career appearance in Japan.
The pride of San Pablito, Caricuao, in Caracas is more than ready to battle Japanese rising-star Daiya Kira (4-0, 3 KOs) this coming Wednesday, September 2, at the brand-new 5,000-seats #Yokohama Buntai Arena.
Carlitos and Kira will fight for the vacant WBA light-flyweight (49 kilos, 108 lbs) world title in the main event of the #Lemino Boxing show.
Notably, the experienced Cañizales won this very WBA belt in Venezuela last August.
However, he was forced to vacate the title due to severe political unrest in his beautiful home country of Venezuela, "The Land of Grace."
Now, as the WBA # 2 contender, Carlitos is hungry to reclaim his spot at the very top of his Light Flyweight division. Can he do it?
Importantly, the friendly 33-year-old Carlitos Cañizales is no stranger to Japanese opponents.
In fact, he holds a 2-1-1 record against fighters from "The Land of the Rising Sun."
Cañizales' last trip to Japan featured an exciting razor-thin, back-and-forth war against the current WBO Super Flyweight World Champion Kenshiro Teraji (26-2, 16 KOs) in January of 2024.
This time, Carlitos Cañizales faces a fierce challenge in the 23-year-old Daiya Kira of Osaka.
Diya is attempting to make history in his boxing-lovi g country by becoming the fastest Japanese boxer "ever" to win a world title, doing so in just his 5th professional fight. Can he do that?
