TEAM NABUNTURAN bannered by Noel Rosales, Marlon Anover and Bermar Piquero won the special 3-on-3 Mixed Martial Arts competition last Friday night, July 3 at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center in Koronadal City.

Nabunturan beat the three-some of mixed fighters Lee Obedencio [58kg] of Bislig, Al Farwana [59kg] of General Santos City and Renz John Manlunas [56kg] of Digos City.

Nabunturan first outslugged Manlunas by rear naked choke by Rosales [54kg].

In the second round, Nabunturan's Piquero [58kg] and Anover [58kg] helped in keeping Farwana out by throwing punches.

With only Obedencio remaining, the three easily crushed the lone fighter.

“That was really our game plan—to be the first to secure a submission,” said Nabuturan head coach Tyrone Billones.

The three referees were Ritchie Solano, Lester Bertulfo and Jenery Quiñonero, who is also the matchmaker.

It was one of the highlights in the 4th Gov. RST Mixed Martial Arts Slugfest.

“It was a hell of the fight,” said tournament director Board Member Junneth Ines Hurtado.

The huge crowd were cheering every time the players were trying to dominate themselves.

It was organized by the South Cotabato Sports Development Unit and the Province of South Cotabato.
