BAGUIO CITY -- IBF and WBA world super bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales has taken a new sparring mate in Raymond Yànong from the Highland Boxing Stable in Baguio City.
The 31-year-old Tapales first tested Yanong last Novenber 24 and he was impressed by the performance shown by the much bigger opponent.
Yaong hit Tapales with many punches in three rounds.
The 30-year-old Yanong has 12 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw.
Yanong will now stay near the gym and resume the sparring session on Monday.
Another new sparring mate is Magic Plania from General Santos City who arrived last November 23. But he still has to join the sparring sessions. He will most likely start sparring with Tapales next week.
Meanwhile, manager JC Manangquil earlier left Baguio to spend his 30th birthday last November 24 in General Santos City. Manangquil went home together with assistant Ramon Falgui.
Tapales and his team will leave on November 29 in Baguio for Manila.
