WORLD ranked contender Mike “Magic” Plania of General Santos City knocked out in the 1st round veteran Mark Anthony “El Heneral” Geraldo of Bukidnon last night, March 17 at the Sanman Gym in GenSan.
The 26-year-old Plania, a former IBF North American super bantamweight champion, first stopped Geraldo with a left jab.
But Geraldo, a former WBO Oriental bantamweight champion, managed to stand up and fight again.
Plania again landed a left punch that finally saw Geraldo being helped by the referee as he tried to hang on the ropes.
Plania improved his record to 28 wins with 15 knockouts against two loses while Geraldo dropped to 13 loses against 39 wins and three draws.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Tapales three times sent down to the canvas his opponent Jaeger Bereño in the 3rd round for a technical knockout victory in the supporting card.
The fights were promoted by Sanman Promotion headed by JC
Manangquil.
